With a long list of brands under their belt, Vokswagen have decided to tell their mergers and acquisitions department to take a holiday. Bloomberg reports that the ever-expanding Volkswagen Group, intends to focus on the integration of its recent purchases of Porsche, Ducati, Scania and MAN into the company’s portfolio.
Speaking with German newspaper Handelsblatt, Volkswagen CEO Martin Winterkorn revealed the company isn’t planning to buy anymore automakers saying, “We have enough to do at the moment in taking our twelve brands to where we want to be.” Winterkorn also said he wants the company to grow in Southeast Asia, but dismissed suggestions of interest in Proton and Alfa Romeo, having commented, “That I find Alfa Romeo an interesting brand is not a secret, but we are currently busy enough with our brands.”
Volkswagen AG is currently Europe’s largest car maker, encompassing brands such as Audi, Bentley, Bugatti, Lamborghini and Skoda.
