As German Porsche tuners go, Dortmund based company 9ff are kind of the biggest daddys of them all, along with RUF Automobile that is. 9ff have just revealed their new GTurbo 1200, which is based on a Porsche 911 (997) GT3 donor car. As you may have guessed, the GTurbo 1200 stands for 1200 horsepower (895 kW) and you can also throw 1 150 Nm of torque into the equation for good measure. This no doubt makes it one of the most powerful Porsches in the world.
The GTurbo and its performance credentials are as follows: 3.3 seconds from 0 to 100 km/h and here is the good one; it will go all way up to a top speed of 403 km/h. Bonkers! Creating all that colossal thrust from the Porsche’s rear end is the GT3’s 3.8-litre flat-six engine whose displacement has been bored out to 3.9-litres. The breathing apparatus is courtesy of a water-cooled Garrett GT1200R turbocharger with ball bearings. The GTurbo 1200 features three-stage boost control, which is operated via buttons on the steering wheel, with options ranging from 0.8 bar, 1.2 bar and finally the full-fat 1.6 bar. This in effect alters the power output from 447 kW to the full 895 kW.
Power is nothing without control and so to handle the 911’s power upgrade the standard 997 GT3 6-speed manual gearbox has been heavily reinforced and the car has a new, strengthened, 9ff limited-slip differential. The suspension has been completely changed using an adjustable 9ff / Bilstein suspension system with aluminium shocks, 60 mm springs, rigid aluminium top mounts on the front suspension, reinforced wishbones at the rear, hydraulic power steering and adjustable stabiliser bars for both the front and rear.
Wheel and tyre wise the 9ff GTurbo 1200 employs 19-inch rims all around, shod in Continental V-max tyres, but with a wider footprint at the rear. The car also features a 997 GT2 PCCB brake system with Porsche Supercup brake pads to bring it to a quick stop. What a machine. We can’t want to see what 9ff can come up with when they get their hands on a new 991 generation 911.
