Unveiled earlier this year at the Leipzig Motor Show, the Volkswagen Scirocco GTS has now had its pricing announced in the European markets where it will go on sale exclusively.
Just like it did for the original, Volkswagen has decided to bring back the GTS nameplate for the modern day Scirocco to spice up midlife sales for the model. The Volkswagen Scirocco GTS pricing ranges from €28 100 for the 1.4 TSI, to €33 525 for the most powerful 2.0 TSI.
What is appealing about these GTS models is that they can combine with any of the five available engines; from the 1.4-litre TSI to the 2.0-litre TSI and even the 2.0-litre TDI Scirocco that Volkswagen sells in Europe.
The GTS stands out of the Scirocco crowd by virtue of its cosmetic stripes running from the bonnet, over the roof and down to the tailgate, as well as its red-coloured mirrors and red brake callipers. Volkswagen will supply 18-inch wheels as standard, (19-inch wheels are optional even on top of the GTS package), with a sportier rear spoiler and a new diffuser for the rear bumper.
We do hope buyers in the smaller engined models with their smaller wheels, decide to upgrade to the 19- inch option, otherwise that stripe over the roof could look just a little bit silly.
The interior of the GTS gets black seats with red stitching, piano black lacquer accents on the dashboard, like you’ll find on the new 21st Century Beetle, as well as a flat-bottom steering. Red stitching and a GTS logo has been added to the front seatbacks, while the floor mats have been given red edging and a unique ‘golf ball’ style gear knob adds the finishing touch.
Volkswagen South Africa have neither confirmed nor denied whether the Scirocco GTS will heading to South Africa.
