New Life For Gumpert

German supercar manufacturer Gumpert recently filed for bankruptcy in their local court. At that stage, the court appointed administrator decided that the company was recoverable. Fortunately it seems they’ve managed to convince an new investor too.

According to Dutch magazine Auto Visie, Gumpert managed to round up a number of investors who were interested in the company and recently chose the candidate they were most comfortable with. The third-party hasn’t been identified at this stage, but it means that production of the Apollo is likely to continue for the time being.

As a refresher, the Gumpert Apollo is arguably the closest thing to a FIA GT1 race car that you can drive on the road. It’s also widely regarded as the ugliest supercar money can buy, but what it lacks in looks it make up for in speed; 360.4 km/h to be exact.

The new investment could also be the trigger that starts development on the Gumpert Tornante shown above, although when questioned, a spokesperson said “We cannot say anything about the future prospects of Gumpert.”
