Smart has unveiled their smart forstars concept at the Paris Motor Show and have described the concept as a Sports Utility Coupe.
The concept, with an unfortunate acronym (SUC), is designed to preview the company’s future styling language. As such, it has an aggressive front fascia with large air intakes and LED-infused headlights. There’s also a glass roof that “gives a clear view of the starry sky”, while a sophisticated infotainment system integrates a projector in to the bonnet, which effectively turns it into a mobile cinema; odd.
The interior features a three-pod instrument cluster, painted trim and white leather seats with removable covers. The rearview mirror is replaced by a smartphone, which uses a built-in camera to display what’s happening behind the vehicle. This device also serves as a media source and controls the projector. Behind the seats is a spacious luggage compartment with aluminum supports for larger items.
The electric drive of the smart forstars concept draws power from a Brabus-sourced electric drive system. Compared to the production model of the smart electric drive, the output of the magneto-electric motor has been increased to 60 kW and 135 Nm. Smart say this is enough to give the forstars lively performance, lag-free acceleration and a top speed of more than 130 km/h.
