Suzuki S-Cross Concept

2013 will see a growth spike in the compact crossover market, with the arrival of the Ford EcoSport, Chevrolet Trax/Opel Mokka and now Suzuki’s S-Cross.

The Suzuki S-Cross concept is 4 310 mm long, 1 840 mm wide and 1 600 mm tall, with a 2 600 mm wheelbase and it rides on 20-inch wheels with 235/55 R20 tyres. From a styling perpsective, highlights include the dynamic lines that flow from the front bumper to the rear of the body, high-gloss chrome garnishes for the LED fog lamp surrounds, as well as the organic shapes of the headlights and tail light clusters. The mesh front grille features a combination of dark and bright chrome elements, while the functional roof rails fit flush against the sloping roofline when not in use. The urban warrior nature of the S-Cross is bolstered by a skid plate, boldly flared wheel arches and side mouldings.

Suzuki has net yer released any technical details of the S-Cross, but managing officer and executive general manager of Suzuki’s global automotive marketing, Kenichi Ayukawa, confirmed that the S-Cross will spawn a production model, to be introduced in Europe before the end of 2013. Mr Ayukawa added that the new crossover was further confirmation of Suzuki’s expansion strategy, which aims to introduce new models to the European market on an annual basis.

It’s not yet clear whether that model will be made available in South Africa, but Suzuki could do with an expanded model line-up to boost sales.
