BMW M Performance Steering Wheel

BMW M Performance Steering Wheel

BMW has just launched a new M Performance steering wheel. The optional, flat bottomed, steering wheel features a race display and is made from a tactile mix of carbon and Alcantara. We believe there is huge development potential in ‘line of sight’ technology when it comes to sports driving; such as head-up display and this latest M Performance steering wheel. BMW look to be on the cutting edge of this development again.

The M Performance steering wheels’ race display carries useful information like a LED gearshift indicator, along with three different modes for the driver to choose from while piloting his machine: EffcientDynamics, Sport and Race.

The wheel is equipped with an extra function display that can show you the average fuel consumption over short and long distances, as well as your average speed. In ‘Sport’ mode, it shows a stopwatch, G-metre, longitudinal and lateral acceleration, as well as water and oil-temperature. In ‘Race’ mode, it displays a lap timer and a 1/4-mile race timer.

The steering wheel is currently part of the M Performance accessory line overseas and while we think it is very cool, we really think it should only belong on the sportiest of sporty BMWs. Any owner found to have it on their 116i will instantly qualify themselves as ‘uncool’. You’ve been warned.
