A keen-eyed photographer in Spain has snapped the upcoming 2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class sedan sans any camouflage whatsoever. Good on you mate. The photographer apparently caught this rare glimpse of the four-door saloon from his hotel room in Madrid. We have to say that we like the svelte look pictured here.
Criticism surrounding the current ‘E’ always centres on its fuddy-duddy, airport taxi conservatism, but this is much more inline with what a big executive saloon should look like. What is clearly visible from the image are the large alloy wheels, red brake callipers, enlarged air vents on the front bumper and the “V8 Bi-Turbo” logo on the front fenders. This car has the potential to be the next E63 AMG as a result.
Significant updates concerning the styling are focused on the return to single headlamp units, as opposed to the four of the current model, as well as less fussy styling on the rear-side panels. As you would imagine however, most of the design focus has gone into overhauling the front grille and bonnet together with the re-styled bumpers, doors and fenders. We presume a similar treatment has been done to the rear of the E-Class too, although it can’t be confirmed from this image.
The side profile of the car also seems to have been significantly cleaned up, giving it a more self-assured look when seen from the side. In our eyes the revamped Mercedes-Benz E-Class is clearly an aesthetic improvement over the current car and, with its appealing shape, its success will almost certainly be broader than before. We can’t wait for it to arrive.
