The Porsche 9ff GT9 Vmax Claims 437 km/h

This super-tuned Porsche is a blur of improbable numbers and world-famous German tuner 9ff has revealed its latest GT9 Vmax creation at the 2012 Essen Motor Show. 9ff build a range of highly modified cars called the GT9. After they built the original GT9 that offered up to 726 kW, 9ff released the GT9 R and finally the GT9 R Clubsport.

The Clubsport model was presumably intended for track use, although against what we’re not quite sure… LMP1 cars maybe?! Recently, however, 9ff decided to take the big-horsepower GT9 R Clubsport and show the world ‘what this thing can really do’.

It’s called the GT9 Vmax and uses a Porsche flat-six powerplant that’s been bored out to 4.2-litres. It is a GT2 twin-turbo engine with boost pressure churned up to the maximum 2 bars. The car is therefore capable of producing 1 400 HP, or 1 043 kW at 7 950 r/min and a monumental 1 160 Nm of torque at 5 600 r/min. The 9ff GT9 Vmax relies on its rear wheels to attempt to put that colossal power onto the tarmac.

The supercar sports a carbon fibre body, with a redesigned, long-tail, rear section and a curb weight that’s been lessened to just 1 340 kg, yet the aerodynamics of the GT9 Vmax afford the car better high speed stability. The acceleration to 100 km/h from zero is achieved in 3.1 seconds, while 6.8 seconds gets the GT9 Vmax to 200 km/h and 13 seconds is all it takes to reach 300 km/h. Powerful stuff.

The Papenburg-based Porsche specialists came up with a Bugatti Veyron Super Sport beater because they say they wanted to build the “ultimate high-speed supercar”. They also say it can do 437 km/h, but they haven’t actually gone out and done it yet. According to 9ff, the supercar is still under development, but they hope to have it finished by early next year so they can perform some high speed runs by March 2013.

The price for all this ballistic speed? €895 000, or roughly R10-million with change. We’re guessing that a warranty isn’t included as standard.
