In the world of automotive tuning, more is never enough it seems. German aftermarket Range Rover specialists, Arden, have proven this once again with a new draft of a wide body kit for the recently launched 2013 Range Rover. The 2013 Range Rover went on sale in South Africa this very week in fact. Arden are calling it their version the AR9 and, while these may only be renderings of what the modified Range Rover exterior will look like, wide-body styles never look better or more intimidating than they do on a big, brash Range Rover.
Arden envisages the fourth generation Range Rover having a new front bumper with larger air vents and integrated LED daytime running lights to make the front fascia pop. It also sees new side skirts with wider front fender flares and extra detailing on those fenders to accompany the overall wide-body stance. The more aggressive rear bumper gets an integrated rear diffuser and the Arden Range Rover wouldn’t be complete without the fitment of four large tailpipes.
The AR9 with its wider shoulders and masses of extra air intakes, receives 22-inch lightweight ‘Dakar II’ mono-block alloy wheels, finished in matte black or silver. There is also the option of deeper lipped, forged Sportline rims to match the body colour of the Range Rover. The wide-body comes with the necessary wheel spacers to complete the widening task.
If the gangster, wide-body looks aren’t for you, but you do want something a little more distinctive than a standard Range Rover, the German firm will offer a second, more basic option, without the wide-body kit and a different selection of alloy wheels. The standard Arden package includes a tweaked front apron with additional bumper details and LED lighting, side skirts and the rear bumper with the diffuser and quad tailpipes. The Arden Range AR9 program does not include any performance enhancements, but the new exhaust pipes should offer quite an improved soundtrack as is.
