Subaru Viziv Concept Could Be Next Tribeca SUV

This Subaru Viziv concept is headed to next month’s Geneva International Motor Show and, while it shows a vehicle still a few years from production-readiness, what it will preview is a whole new design language that will inspire the next generation of the Japanese manufacturer’s vehicles.

The Subaru Viziv concept takes its name from the phrase “vision for innovation” and promises next generation Subarus will sport aggressive styling and cutting-edge innovative technologies. The concept is in fact part of the car maker’s 55-year anniversary celebrations.

Subaru also says the Viziv embodies the brand value of, “Enjoyment and Peace of Mind.” What is noticeable in the Viziv image released by Subaru, is the similarities to the 2009 Hybrid Tourer Concept displayed back at the Tokyo International Motor Show, as well as similarities with the Advanced Tourer Concept of 2011.

We also think the concept could very well preview a new SUV to replace the hugely unloved Tribeca SUV. There have been rumours too, saying the next Subaru SUV platform will be shared with an equivalent Toyota product, much like the Subaru BRZ sports car of last year.

Subaru’s Geneva stand will also feature other historic Subaru vehicles from as far back as 1958, including the 1958 Subaru 360 small city car. Also on the Geneva stand will be the Subaru Outback diesel fitted with the brand’s ‘Lineartronic’ Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT).

This will be the first time CVT is teamed with a horizontally opposed ‘boxer’ diesel engine. A Subaru Forester will also be found on the stand, while the new-generation Subaru Forester will be launched to the South African motoring press before the end of February.
