The addition of Hyundai’s new i20 1.4 CRDi Glide to its i20 range, completes the line-up of the popular Hyundai model. The Hyundai i20 now boasts five derivatives that are topped off with the new 1.4-litre CRDi Glide with its turbodiesel engine.
Back in 2012 Hyundai launched the popular i20 in a revised and refreshed form, then towards the end of last year, the entry-level i20 1.2-litre Motion was added to the range to satisfy the needs of budget conscious buyers. The entry of the new 1.4 turbodiesel derivative to the i20 range now increases the market share that this small hatch enjoys in its segment.
The engine is a 1.4-litre turbo-charged four cylinder diesel engine that delivers 66 kW of peak power and 220 Nm of torque. Linked to a smooth and efficient 6-speed manual transmission, a fuel economy figure of 5.0 L/100 km is the result. The i20’s 110 g/km CO2 ensures that no tax will be levied in this department and the i20 1.4 CRDi Glide can run on 500 ppm diesel as well.
The Hyundai i20 1.4 CRDi Glide manual retails for R 195 900 and as with all other passenger models from Hyundai, it comes standard with a five-year/150 000 km warranty and 5 years/150 000 km roadside assistance. We haven’t had the pleasure of testing driving it yet, but we will bring you a first drive report as soon as we do.
