The latest pinnacle of Ferrari’s road-going engineering has arrived. Named the ‘LaFerrari’, the new supercar is powered by a 588 kW 6.2-litre V12 that’s aided by a 120 kW electric motor. Together they produce 708 kW on their way to a dizzying 9 250 r/min.
Power is sent to the wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. The LaFerrari will reach 100 km/h in less than 3 seconds, 200 km/h in less than 7 seconds, 300 km/h in 15 seconds and reach a maximum velocity of more than 350 km/h.
Ferrari’s HY-KERS system weighs 140 kg, of which 62 kg comes from the centrally-mounted batteries that are recharged whenever the power unit generates excess torque and also via regenerative braking.
A limited production run of 499 units is planned, with the majority having already been sold. Interested? Well if you have €1.3-million, you’re in with a chance.
