Volkswagen Launches ‘Rally The World: The Game’

Rally The World: The Game

Volkswagen joined the World Rally Championship WRC in January and started the season with a second place in Monte Carlo followed by two first places in Sweden and Mexico. These results mean the Volkswagen Polo R WRC, together with driver Sébastien Ogier and navigator Julien Ingrassia, are leading the championship standings.

As part of Volkswagen’s international motorsports campaign, entitled “Rally the World”, the company is extending its marketing efforts and putting a little bit of Polo R WRC action into the hands of its fans by launching a video game for mobile devices called, “Rally The World. The Game”.

In contrast to conventional racing games, the player does not assume the role of the driver but of the co-pilot and provides the driver with information on the course during the rally. The challenge is to guide the Polo R WRC through dangerous curves and over demanding route sections from a dynamic pursuer’s perspective.

A part from quick reactions, the game calls for clear tactics in order to achieve the ideal blend of planning, timing and speed. The more often players complete the course, the more experience points they receive, giving access to further virtual competition countries and command cards.

As well as the mobile version, the racing game is also available as a web browser variant at www.rallytheworld.com. Via the website, all players can also compete for genuine prizes in addition to taking part in virtual races. The game is free to download and is available from the Apple App Store for iOS and via Google Play, Android Pit and the Samsung Store for Android.
