As far as we know, and as far as Holden know, there isn’t an official lap record for the utility, or bakkie, class of vehicle at the Nürburgring Nordschleife. Even if there was, we doubt anything would go quicker than the VF version of the Commodore Ute, or what’s known locally in S.A. as the Lumina Ute SS.
To launch their VF SS V Redline Ute, Holden have laid claim to having the world’s fastest “utility, pickup or any other commercial vehicle” at the Nürburgring. The record run stopped the clock at 8 minutes 19.47 seconds with Holden’s dynamics engineer, Rob Trubiani, behind the steering wheel. The time proved 11 seconds quicker than what the engineers had estimated from initial practice sessions.
For an other Nürburgring utility experience, take a look at Tanner Foust hustling a Ford F-150 SVT around the Green Hell.
