The Honda Jazz has been one of the Japanese manufacturer’s staple products since its introduction in 2001 and as of July 2010 had exceeded 3.5 million sales globally. The second generation has already been around six years since 2008, so a new version of the popular sub-compact hatch has been expected with growing anticipation.
The images shown here are reportedly taken from a leaked sales brochure for the 2014 Honda Jazz in India, where the car is sold under the ‘Fit’ banner.
The new Jazz will be manufactured on a scalable platform that will also accommodate a sedan bodystyle, as well as the production version of the Urban SUV concept.
As with all successive generations of passenger vehicles, the new Jazz is expected to grow slightly, with a longer overall length and wheelbase said to be on the cards.
A range of Honda’s new 4-cylinder ‘Earth Dreams’ engines will be on offer, which will bring lower weight, emissions and improved fuel economy to the new Jazz. From the image of the “power-charge” gauge in the instrument panel we can see that a hybrid model will continue to be available.
The Jazz’s reputation for interior space and practicality is one that Honda will be sure to advance, with ‘Magic Seating’, increased legroom and cargo capacity.
