Honda say the Concept-GT meets 2014 GT500 regulations as prescribed by the Japan Automobile Federation. It is also likely, however, that it will comply with new regulations that allow Japanese manufactures, like Honda, Nissan and Lexus, to compete with the Audi A5, Mercedes C-Class Coupe and BMW M3 in the German DTM series.

The NSX Concept-GT is powered by a mid-mounted 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder, turbocharged engine that is paired with a racing hybrid system, which together will deliver between 373 and 410 kW. No further details about the hybrid racer were released, but stand-out elements are the wide and aerodynamic body which rolls on race-spec Bridgestone Potenza tyres.

The road-going production version of the Honda NSX, is scheduled to launch in 2015 and is expected to be powered by a combination of petrol V6 engine and electric motors. Honda has confirmed that the model will feature three hybrid motors – one in the dual-clutch gearbox and two on the front axle, making the car four-wheel drive.

The Honda NSX Concept-GT will make its debut at Round 5 of the 2013 Autobacs Super GT series at Suzuka Circuit, under the supervision and operation of GTA Co., Ltd.
