The Lamborghini Gallardo Gallardo LP 570-4 Squadra Corse is likely to be the last Gallardo model to leave the production line at Bologne. The Squarda Corse, which means ‘Race Team’ in Italian, is a special road-going version of the Gallardo Super Trofeo that participates in various GT3 championships, including the one-make Blancpain Super Trofeo series.
The road-going Squadra Corse combines the weight savings from the racing car, which includes extensive use of aluminum and carbon fibre body panels, together with added downforce from the aerodynamics package and the race car’s carbon composite rear wing that adds three times more downforce than a standard LP 560-4. At 1 340 kg, the Squadra Corse also weighs-in 70 kg less than the standard Gallardo.
Other exclusive touches to the car’s exterior include the colors of the Italian flag along each flank, while a combination of gloss and matt finish black accents adorn the air intakes, splitter, diffuser, mirrors and wheels. The engine cover is also vented and has a quick release system installed. Inside, the changes are subtle but effective. The dashboard is wrapped in Alcantara, with carbon fibre trim elements surrounding the driver’s instruments and switchgear, as well as Squadra Corse badging. Racing seats and aluminium pedals are standard fare.
Power comes from the same 5.0-litre V10 engine that drives the Super Trofeo racing car. The V10 produces 419 kW and gives the car a 0 – 100 km/h sprint time of 3.4 seconds and a top speed of 320 km/h. The engine is linked to an E-Gear semi-automatic transmission, which is operated by steering wheel-mounted paddles.
