Oettinger Sport Systems GmbH have over 60 years of experience when it comes to Volkswagen and Audi products. This is why it’s not entirely surprising to learn that they are among the first to announce a tuning program for the new Volkswagen Golf GTI, including styling and chassis elements.
The Oettinger Golf 7 GTI has been given a far more aggressive character thanks to a new aerodynamic bodykit. The front bumper includes a new lower spoiler section with integrated splitter, new side skirts are deeper with stronger contours, while the rear bumper has been given a new lower skirt with integrated diffuser. Oettinger also adds a new 5-spoke wheel design with pin striping to match the colour scheme of the car.
Oettinger are finalising the performance-enhancing details of their program, but the company say they expect to extract around 257 kW from the turbocharged 2.0-litre engine. No official figures are available at this stage, but that kind of power places the Oettinger GTI in BMW M135i and Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG territory – in theory of course. Upgrades include a revised induction system, larger intercooler, a sports exhaust system with quad-tailpipes, remapped ECU to manage it all, as well as a competition-spec clutch to handle the power and uprated brakes to slow the car down.
The price of the performance upgrades has not been announced, but the bodykit is priced at €1 990 and the wheels are €450 each.
Considering the Golf 7 GTI is still so new to many world markets, these power figures are bound to be achieved and bettered by many tuners across the globe.
