Video: Rare Shelby Daytona Coupé At Spa-Francorchamps

The Shelby Daytona Coupé was built to take on Ferrari in the FIA World Sportscar Championship in the 1964/5. It’s an especially rare prototype racer, with just six examples having been built before Carroll Shelby was assigned to the Ford GT40 project to beat Ferrari at Le Mans.

The video you’re about to see shows chassis number CSX2300 at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit in Belgium. This particular car was raced by Jo Schlesser and Andre Simon at the Nurburgring back in its heydey, where it finished 3rd in the GT3 class and 12th overall. This car was also owned by the legendary Carroll Shelby himself, before being auctioned off in 2000 for a cool $4.4-million.
