Some sharp spy-photographers have captured the next generation Lexus CT 200h F-Sport fully unclothed and sporting Lexus’ new signature spindle grille. We have something of a love/hate relationship with Lexus’ first attempt at an affordable hatchback. While the concept and comfort was admirable, the gloopy styling and flaccid hybrid performance let the expensive package down easily.
The new spindle grille face rekindles a bit of excitement in the car for us and we might go so far as to say that if Lexus keep the pricing cheap, the next-generation Lexus CT 200h might just be one tempting little hatchback for those looking for an alternative to the Germans. While the model captured on camera is the more dynamic-looking F-Sport model, even the regular CT 200h will benefit from the newly-refreshed form.
Aside from the obvious change to the front grille, the Lexus CT 200h sports chromed elements on the fog lights, beefed up honeycomb on the grille, tweaked wheel designs and fresh headlight treatments. The spy images were taken in California on a publicity photo shoot and ahead of the cars international debut, most likely in Los Angeles. We don’t know any more but the next-generation Lexus CT 200h, but it will almost certainly gain an updated battery pack to improve its already-impressive Atkinson Cycle-assisted four-cylinder fuel economy figure.
