We drove the new Volkswagen Golf 7 GTI at the launch last year and, while we found it “endearingly sportier” than the previous Golf 6 GTI, it’s the GTI Performance version that supposedly ups the ante.
There are no plans for the GTI Performance to arrive in South Africa and so it’s interesting to see a comparison done between the two Mk7 GTI versions available in the U.K and European markets.
Admittedly this isn’t a true nose-to-nose comparison because one car is equipped with a manual and one with VW’s DSG transmission, but nonetheless, we’re given an indication of just how much difference the limited-slip differential, larger brakes and an extra 7 kW add to the GTI’s talents.
