The Ferrari 458 Speciale is a stripped out version of the 458 Italia, with much of the 90 kg weight saving having come from an interior devoid of luxuries. The 4.5-litre V8 has been given a bump in power from 419 kW to 445 kW, thanks to a new intake and exhaust system, reshaped cam profiles, forged internals and coatings to further reduce friction. 0 – 100 km/h is over in 3.0 seconds and top speed is 325 km/h.
Ferrari say the 458 Speciale laps their Fiorano test track 1.5 seconds quicker than the regular 458. In this video, however, it isn’t about lap times, but instead we see a masterful display of car control as the Ferrari driver keeps the 458 Speciale sideways at any opportunity.
