The BMW i8 hybrid sports car is an interesting car from any angle; inside, outside and everything in between. It is powered by a combination of an electric motor and 1.5-litre 3-cylinder petrol engine, for a total power output of 269 kW and 570 Nm of torque. Carbon-fibre and aluminium body work gives it an overall weight of 1 490 kg and the elaborate aerodynamics and styling give it a drag coefficient of 0.26, the same as a Nissan GT-R. The inimitable Chris Harris travelled to Los Angeles recently to establish some first impressions on how it has all come together in final production form.
