Video: Renault Mégane RS 275 Trophy-R Nordschleife Highlights

Renault-Megane-RS275-Trophy-R

The Renault Mégane RS is once again the title holder of the fastest front-wheel drive production car to lap the Nurburgring Nordschleife, having stopped the clock at 7m54.36s and unseating the Seat Leon Cupra which held the record briefly with a 7m58s lap.

Like the previous generation Renault Megane R26.R, the RS 275 Trophy-R is a lightweight (by 101 kg), stripped out, hunkered down and powered-up, limited edition of the already capable Megane RS 275. It’s jam packed with goodies from Ohlins, Akrapovic, Michelin and Recaro, with materials such as aluminium, titanium and fibre-reinforced polymer (FRP).

Just 250 units will be built and if Renault South Africa do manage to secure a few for local buyers, the price is likely to be north of the half-a-million mark, which sounds like a pretty fair ballpark figure for the king of FWD performance cars.
