New lights, grille bumper
Land Rover got it right first time around and nobody’s managed to build a sexier compact SUV so the design team didn’t need to panic when it came time to facelift it. The usual items have been improved and in these glossy, colour-corrected images the Evoque once again seems delivered from outer space.
What’s significant?
Revised suspension to better respond to the reduced weight created the Ingenium diesel engines. The suspension subframe and rear bushings are new items and bigger brakes have been installed. The Land Rover Evoque now comes with an 8-inch touchscreen (let’s see if it delivers improved user-friendliness) and All Terrain Progress Control helps modulate the Evoque’s speed off-road. Lane keeping assist is standard. Don’t forget about the cabriolet model – Land Rover won’t confirm it yet but we’ve seen pictures of prototypes in testing. Seems inevitable
Early verdict
Give us a better touchscreen and we’ll call it a success but still can’t quite get our head around a cabriolet model. There’s also some bold claims about some of the Ingenium-range engines boasting best-in class efficiency.
