Subaru BRZ STI Performance Concept

Subaru BRZ STI Performance Concept

Only problem with the Subaru BRZ? The 147kW 2.0-litre normally aspirated engine made it victim to anything wearing a GTi or RS badge. We’ve long dreamed of what a turbo BRZ would be like and the STI Performance Concept, unveiled in New York, only increases that anxiety.

Essentially a marketing tool for the United States, this Subaru BRZ comes with stiffer suspension, aero kit including a thick-slice rear wing, Brembo brakes and sexy alloys.  All this feeds off a turbo 2.0-litre Boxer engine, but there are some race car bits needed to produce the claimed 257kW and 450Nm. That’s the official word but insiders claim the Subaru BRZ STI Performance Concept makes closer to 335kW.

But you’ll need to wait a long time if you want to slip into one of these Alcantara seats because Subaru has no immediate intentions of turning this concept into production. However we remain hopeful because at the end of the day, it’s not the craziest idea around.
