Suzuki Auto South Africa has announced a series of updates to its popular Suzuki Swift 1.2 and DZire models. The changes include revised exterior design and improvements to the interior finishing. Reduced fuel consumption is achieved with a revision of the engine management system and reduced fuel consumption and lower CO2 emissions are added benefits.
Modern styling inside and out
The external changes on the updated Swift 1.2 and DZire include a new grille and front bumper design, and the Suzuki DZire is also fitted with a redesigned front headlight cluster, and rear bumper. Full-sized wheel covers are standard on both and a new range of exterior colours is offered on both models. Interior improvements make Bluetooth connectivity standard on all GL models, while the rear bench seat of the Swift 1.2 is now split 60:40 for improved versatility. The DZire’s cockpit features a smarter, black-hued cloth upholstery.
Even Better Efficiency
Improved efficiency and reduced fuel consumption of the Swift 1.2 and Suzuki DZire models will be particularly good news for budget conscious motorists. Both models retain the1,2-litre four-cylinder engine with a maximum power output of 62 kW at 6 000 r/min, and torque peaking at 115 Nm at 4 000 r/min.
The Swift 1.2, however, benefits from a combined-cycle fuel consumption that has been reduced from 5,7 litres/100 km to 5,3 litres/100 km for the manual transmission model – an improvement of 7,1 percent. Similarly the automatic version shows an improvement of 7.9% recording 5,8 litres/100 km, compared to the 6,3 litres/100 km of the previous version.
The Suzuki DZire shows similar gains.The manual model’s consumption drops from 5,7 litres/100 km to 5,2 litres/100 km (a 7,1 percent improvement), and the auto version from 6.3litre/100km to 5,9 litres/100 km, a significant improvement of 6,8 percent.
