A flood of SUVs and saloons from Citroen’s DS range could see the brand move upmarket with around six new models expected to be launched by 2020. The Citroen DS range is specifically targeting China as an area for growth potential but Arnaud Ribault, global sales and marketing boss, cautioned that reaching premium status could still take fifteen years to achieve.
As for models, a new DS 6 has been developed specifically for China but sales into Eurpoean markets can’t be ruled out at a later stage. Other rumours are that Citroen DS might discontinue the DS 3 and instead focus on a small SUV as a suitable replacement. Existing models like the DS 4 and DS 5 are also up for review, with more SUV orientated designs threatening to make them extinct. The rest of the line-up will focus on the production of several saloons.
In South Africa, the DS nameplate could form its own distinctive sub-brand, operating out of separate showrooms from Citroen.
