Seen here for the first time is an image of the brand new upcoming Volkswagen Polo. A billboard poster advertising the new 5-door car is displayed at the exhibition building of the Geneva Motor Show in Switzerland, and a scanned image shows the new Polo featured in a German car magazine.
Later on this year, probably at the Frankfurt motorshow in September, the 3-door model will be shown. A Polo GTI will follow in 2010 with a 125kW 1.4-litre TSI engine.
From the looks of it we can see the small VW has grown up a little bit in size. In fact the car is said to be 3.95 metres long compared to the 3.92 metres of the previous generation. Moreover the Polo is of higher quality and speculation is that it could even pass as a mini Audi.
Engines expected to make the cut are a new 1.6-litre TDI turbo diesel with 55kW, 66kW or 77kW. There is also a petrol range which is quite familiar. The Polo will be installed with a 1.2-litre of 44kW or 51kW. Stop/start fuel-saving technology, Polo BlueMotion and the new 7-speed DSG transmission will be available for some models.
The new Volkswagen Polo range is scheduled to start selling in Europe by June this year at a price of around €14,000.
