It’s that Furai-like grille that immediately sets the Mazda3 MPS apart from the regular version, but there’s also the usual side skirts, big wheels, rear diffuser and twin exhausts to highlight the cars performance focus.
This new Mazda3 MPS carries over the 2.3-litre DISI turbo engine, however power is expected to be around 200kW, up by 10kW over the current model. Rumor has it that a version of the Ford Focus RS’s RevoKnuckle FWD system could make its way into the new MPS, which will bring a much needed reduction in torque steer to the hot Mazda.
Expect to hear official details during the next week as the Geneva Motor Show gets under way from 5 March.
