The team at Wimmer Rennsporttechnik Solingen (Wimmer RS) is known for its Porsche GT2 tuning package and recently they’ve unveiled an update. Wimmer RS created the GT2 Speed Bi-Turbo, which delivers a performance upgrade resulting in 608 kW at 7 400 rpm and 948 N.m of torque.
The increased power means the tuner from Solingen has managed to endow the GT2 Speed with a power-to-weight-ratio of 1.84 kg/hp and a maximum speed of 378 km/h. Of course, one who has ever had an opportunity to drive a Porsche GT2 will hardly complain about the lack of engine performance, but Wimmer still found some room for improvement. The acceleration of the GT2 Speed Bi-Turbo is 3.38 seconds from 0 to 100 km/h. Within 8.54 seconds the Porsche reaches more than double the speed. The speed of 300 km/h is reached within 20.2 seconds.
The Wimmer GT2 Speed Bi-Turbo power package includes modifications to the engine block, pistons, piston rods, injection nozzles, sports camshafts, inlet system, throttle valve and the installation of an intercooler. Wimmer even uses new engine software. The most important additions are two high performance turbochargers, as well as a sport exhaust system, together with the welded exhaust manifold and twin-exhausts.
Other goodies include a carbon fibre rear lip spoiler, carbon fibre rear-view mirrors, H&R sport springs, and 20-inch Sportec wheels outfitted with Dunlop Sport Maxx GT tyres – size 235/30 up front and 325/25 out back.
Set to be unveiled at the ’09 Essen Motor Show, the Wimmer RS GT2 Speed will be priced from EUR281 000.
