More Style And Power For The Porsche Panamera

Porsche will soon offer a ‘Powerkit’ for the Panamera Turbo, which will further improve performance. Secondly, a ‘Sport Design Package’ with new 20-inch wheels will also be available.

First off, the Powerkit – available for all turbo models – uses two new titanium turbochargers and a remapping of the car’s engine management system to boost the power output to 397 kW, while peak torque is upped to 750 Nm (800 Nm with the overboost function available with the Sport Chrono package).

The added power results in a marginally quicker top speed of 305 km/h, compared with the 303 km/h of the standard Panamera Turbo, while the zero to 100 km/h sprint takes just 0.1 seconds less at 3.8 seconds. Porsche claim fuel economy remains unchanged at 12.2 l/100km.

Also new for the V8-powered Panamera S, 4S and Turbo models is the Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus) pack, which can be ordered in conjunction with Porsche’s Dynamic Chassis Control to improve the Panamera’s cornering agility. The system works by braking the inside wheel in tight corners, giving greater grip to the outer wheel to sharpen up the turn in response and improve steering feel.

In addition to the mechanical changes, Porsche customers also have the choice of a new set of lightweight 20-inch alloy wheels, which dealers can customise in silver, black, or co-ordinated to match the specific car’s body colour.

The Sport Design Package includes a revised front bumper with widened black air intake grilles; deeper side skirts; and colour-coded rear underbody apron with diffuser and fins. A new set of lightweight 20-inch Panamera Sport wheels are also available in silver metallic, black, or coloured to match the car’s paintwork.

You can guarantee these options won’t come cheap, but then some owners will find it a small price to pay for the privilege of owning a bespoke Porsche Panamera.
