To say Lotus pulled off a bit of a coup at last month’s 2010 Paris Auto Show is a massive understatement given the automaker’s reveal of no less than six brand new concept cars, all of which are intended for production over the next five years. The list of concepts range from tiny urban runabouts to luxurious grand tourers and even a ballistic supercar, the latter of which we finally get to see in some detail following the release of these latest images.
The new interior shots of the 2013 Lotus Esprit reveal a fairly conventional driver-focused layout for the cockpit, but the bolstered seats, large gauges and minimalistic design shows that this is a no-nonsense performance machine, equally at home at the race track or your favorite winding mountain pass.
The new Esprit is scheduled to go on sale in the spring of 2013 with a pricetag around £110,000 (approximately R1.2 million). It will have some tough competition on its hands with key rivals including the stunning Ferrari 458 Italia and upcoming McLaren MP4-12C.
However, the Lotus will have a few aces up its sleeves such as the company’s tradition of precision handling and a new 456 kW 5.0-litre V8 powertrain.
