To ensure a rapid response in an emergency, Mercedes-Benz has announced plans to introduce the SLS AMG Emergency Medical Concept at RETTmobil 2011, the largest European trade fair for rescue and mobility.
Designed to draw attention to the company’s lineup of safety vehicles, the SLS AMG Emergency Medical concept is an one-off concept with a special livery, a prominent light bar and the latest communications technology. The standard SLS AMG powered by an 6.2-litre V8, which provides 420 kW and a torque of 650 N.m. Thanks to this, the modern Gullwing is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds and can reach an electronically limited top speed of 317 km/h. The only problem we see with this special emergency vehicle is where exactly would you’d put an injured passenger on the way to the hospital?
Along with the SLS emergency medical vehicle, Mercedes is displaying the chassis of a C-Class and E-class to demonstrate each car’s strength and safety, with the E-Cass suspended in an electric display case that rotates to simulate a rollover crash. But there’s no doubt that that emergency car with the gullwing doors will create the most buzz and attract the most attention at the Mercedes booth.
