It’s not often that we get to see French tuning houses take on German sports cars, so when we stumbled upon the Delavilla-prepped Porsche Cayman R1 it immediately captured our attention.
The Cayman-based Delavilla R1 was revealed at the 2011 Lyon International Motor Show last month and it proposes a comprehensive exterior makeover along with a choice of power upgrades.
The Cayman’s bodywork has been completely overhauled. The R1 has an additional width of 120 mm at the front and 180 mm at the rear. The more aggressive and sporty silhouette is combined with a new front bumper with LED lights and special fog lights. The rear is equipped with four vertical exhaust pipes, above a wide air outlet. The side panels are reminiscent of the Carrera GT and equipped with the large air inlets required to cool the internals.
Inside, the French tuning house adds a pair of bucket seats along with Alcantara trim on the steering wheel and gear lever. Numerous personalisation options are also available and include scissor doors, fingerprint recognition and a transparent engine cover.
The R1 offers the option of three power levels, above and beyond those offered by the manufacturer: the first configuration offers 250 kW, the second 283 kW and the last up to 309 kW – although the most powerful option is only for those than plan to use the car on the track for racing.
