Spied: Porsche 911 (991) GT3

Although a little bit grainy, here are first spy photos of the new Porsche 911 GT3 (991).

Despite being taken from a long distance, the photos show a prototype with little camouflage driving inside a private test track. Distinguishing GT3 charcateristics include a fixed rear wing, two centrally mounted exhausts pipes in the rear bumper, new front bumper with lower splitter and what appears to be air vents at the front edge of the hood.

On public roads outside the test facility, spies also caught a GT3 prototype without its rear wing and aggressive front bumper fascia.

The current 997 generation 911 GT3 has been on the road since early 2006, which was followed up with a facelifted version in 2009. Specs include a 3.8-litre engine producing 324 kW. Other variants include the GT3 RS and GT3 RS 4.0.

The 2013 Porsche 911 GT3 is expected to hit the market in early 2013.
