Scheduled to debut at the Detroit Auto Show next month, Chevy has decided to reveal a couple of photos and details of it’s new 2013 Sonic RS online.
At the heart of the Sonic RS is a new Ecotec 1.4-litre turbocharged engine that packs 103 kW with 200 Nm of torque. Exterior upgrades include a new front and rear fascia, redesigned fog lights with an RS specific grille, a rear spoiler, a set of 17-inch wheels and additional RS badging.
The Sonic RS will be available in four colours at its US launch, including Victory Red, Summit White, Cyber Gray Metallic and Black Granite Metallic. After next month’s big debut, the 2013 Chevy Sonic will go on sale later in 2012.
There’s been no word from General Motors South Africa as to when we’ll see the Sonic RS launched locally, but the range will grow with the addition of the sedan body style; a 1.3-litre diesel engine; as well as an automatic gearbox option, all of which should arrive in the first half of 2012.
