Usually known for their extensive tuning work done to Porsches, Gemballa have shifted focus lately, first with their McLaren MP4-12C GT3 race car and now the Gemballa GT.
The Gemballa GT is a road going version of their GT3 race car. “McLaren’s lightweight construction philosophy, exclusivity and client profile are a perfect fit for our own philosophy,” says the German company’s Managing Director, Andreas Schwarz. “Our challenge was to imbue the missing emotion into the Gemballa GT version of the MP4-12C. Our starting point is an aerodynamic styling kit and ultra-light forged alloy wheels, and we are developing an engine upgrade programme as well,” Schwarz added.
The Gemballa GT aerodynamic kit consists of a new front bumper/spoiler, side skirts, rear apron and a small rear wing. Gemballa asserts these components give the car improved high-speed stability. The forged alloy wheels are one size larger too, with 20-inch diameter at the front and 21-inch at the rear.
