We love the Peugeot RCZ Coupe, but we’re not too sure if cash strapped Peugeot gets the idea behind limited editions. Pictured here is the limited edition Onyx, a new version of Peugeot’s head turning RCZ Coupe. It will go on sale in Germany and France only. To make it ‘limited’, Peugeot have given it a blackened grille, some subtle body stripes and bigger 19-inch alloy wheels. On the inside they’ve added some sport seats in Nappa leather and a leather-wrapped dashboard. Peugeot say the RCZ Onyx combines sleek beauty and driving pleasure all in one.
French and Germans who opt for the special edition can have it in either the RCZ THP with 147 kW and 240 Nm from its 1.6 litre petrol engine, or the RCZ 2.0 HDI diesel with 110 kW and 340 Nm. We have driven both the clean revving THP petrol and the economical 2.0 HDI and we think they are both brilliantly styled and underrated sports coupes; although the petrol is far better than the diesel.
This limited edition Onyx, however, isn’t quite enough of an adaptation to get us too excited. The Peugeot RCZ has great style and exclusivity going for it, Peugeot should find a way to trade off that.
