The Mini Paceman Concept was seen at the 2011 Detroit Motor Show. Since then it has been given the ‘green light’ for production in an effort for Mini to extend their range. Apart from spy shots of a camouflaged prototype caught testing in Germany in May, we haven’t heard much news until now. With a debut scheduled for the Paris Motor Show at the end of the month, new images of the Mini Paceman in final production form have been ‘leaked’.
The images were taken by Motoringfile from the Mini Space, which is the online version of Mini’s print magazine. A two-door version of the Mini Countryman, the Paceman has remained true to the styling first seen on the concept version last year. Although this isn’t surprising, as the Paceman was always going to be a sportier looking two-door version of the Countryman; comparable to the Land Rover Evqoue in its appeal.
In terms of powertrains, technology and interior design, we can expect the Paceman to follow the Countryman closely. This means a choice of 1.6-litre engines in various states of tune: 90 kW; 135 kW; and 160 kW in the JCW, which will surely be introduced at a later date.
More details will be available within the coming weeks, with the car expected to go on sale in early 2013.
