Porsche has unveiled what must surely be the most hardcore SUV to-date, the Cayenne Turbo S, which promises an unrivaled combination of on- and off-road performance.
Powered by the same turbocharged 4.8-litre V8 found in the Cayenne and Panamera Turbo models, the Cayenne Turbo S benefits from additional tweaks, such as an increased boost pressure, more free flowing inlet manifold and remapped electronics. As a result, the Cayenne Turbo S has 410 kW and 750 Nm of torque, which is enough to launch the SUV from 0 – 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds and on to a top speed of 283 km/h. This makes the Turbo S 0.2 seconds quicker to 100 km/h than the Cayenne Turbo and a 5km/h faster top speed. Combined cycle fuel consumption is a claimed 11.5 L/100km.
The SUV’s chassis configuration has been borrowed from the Cayenne Turbo, which means it employs the same Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) dampening control and air suspension combination as the Turbo, with the added benefit of Dynamic Chassis Control (DCC), in an attempt to reduce roll through corners and enhance agility and ride comfort. Standard kit also includes a torque vectoring system and electronically controlled differential lock for improved traction.
Styling-wise, there are high gloss black accents on the headlamp and mirror housings, as well as an exclusive set of 21-inch 911 Turbo II alloy wheels exclusive for this flagship model. The cabin features leather upholstery and carbon trim, with high gloss black accents to match the exterior highlights.
