In preparation for Blancpain’s next race season the new 2013 Lamborghini Gallardo Super Trofeo racing car has been unveiled. The 2013 Gallardo Super Trofeo is based on the facelifted version of the V10 Lamborghini supercar we first saw at the Paris Motor Show.

Being a racing car, it shows various aerodynamic and mechanical modifications, among them the Super Trofeo features a new front chin spoiler, a new ten-way adjustable rear wing with a multi-layered diffuser and a resultant 120% improved aero performance over the 2012 Gallardo race car.

Overall downforce has been increased by 160 kg and with brake cooling ducts improving the thermal efficiency by 50%. The Super Trofeo race car is powered by the same 5.2-litre V10 engine you’ll find in the road car, where it produces 425 kW (570 hp), from whence it gets its name, the LP 570-4, with ’4′ signifying four-wheel drive of course.

Maurizio Reggiani, Head of Lamborghini Motorsport, said at the launch of the new Super Trofeo race car that the car has evolved to ensure Super Trofeo remains an attractive series in which to compete for Lamborghini customers and is a fertile environment for guests and VIPs to immerse themselves in the Lamborghini brand.

The Super Trofeo racing series includes six race weekends and 58 drivers around many tracks across the world. It may be for rich playboys but the car still looks mega.
