The Lexus LF-CC hybrid coupé concept has been revealed ahead of the Paris Motor Show, which starts on 27 September. The Lexus LF-CC is said to preview the styling language of the next generation of the IS, as well as a new addition to the range, which will rival the Audi A5, upcoming BMW 4 Series and the Mercedes-Benz C-Class coupés.
The LF-CC sports Lexus’ most aggressive rendition of its ‘spindle’ design grille, which is framed by the leading edge of the bonnet and projects the end of the front fenders into the deep lower spoiler. The rear of the LF-CC features a deep and tall bumper section, which extends into the wheel arches, while the high-mounted third brake light has been integrated neatly into the radio aerial. Overall, the LF-CC’s proportions suggest a typical front-engined, rear-wheel drive layout, with a long bonnet and cabin that’s set back and a short rear end.
Lexus say the interior, with its soft-touch materials and metallic accents, also hints at the cabin of the next IS range. The driver sits low and benefits from a driver-focused layout that includes a wide grip steering wheel and high-visibility instrument dials. The center console is divided into two distinct zones: ‘Display’ and ‘Operation’. The first zone has a multi-display screen installed on the upper side, while below, the second zone provides access to the gear lever and the touch-pad display for the remote system control.
The hybrid powerplant pairs a direct-injection 2.5-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine with an electric motor. Lexus claim the combination offers class-leading efficiency. The LF-CC also features a generator, a high-performance battery and a power split device, governed by a power control unit, that combines and allocates power from the petrol engine, the electric motor and the generator depending on the load.
