Official: Volkswagen Amarok Canyon Edition

Volkswagen Amarok Canyon Edition

The Volkswagen Amarok Canyon Edition concept has been in the back of our minds since its debut at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show in March. Its more rugged exterior stirred the macho in us and whenever the Amarok was mentioned, the Canyon Edition concept would always flash fleetingly before our eyes. Good news then, is that Volkswagen have announced the Amarok Canyon Edition will enter production.

The company’s designers incorporated all the concept vehicle’s key features, including the exclusive ‘Copper Orange’ paintwork with gloss black accents, 17-inch ‘Roca’ alloy wheels and 245/70 R17 AT-tyres, as well as the styled roll bars on the loading area. The Canyon Edition also features smoked taillamps, black-lipped wheel arches and body-coloured skid plates.

Available options include the concept’s 18-inch wheels and the roof-mount with four extra headlights. The Amarok Canyon Edition is also available in three additional colours, namely ‘Reflex Silver’, ‘Natural Grey’ and ‘Sand Beige’.

The Canyon Edition is based on Volkswagen’s Trendline specification, but has been given some unique interior updates, such as matte chrome covering on the centre dashboard panel, two-tone seats with ‘Moon Rock’ bases and Anthracite accents.

The Volkswagen Amarok Canyon Edition is powered by the same choice of 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engines, as found in the current Amarok range, and is available in either rear-wheel or four-wheel drive. The Canyon Edition is expected to go on sale in Europe in early 2013.
