New Maserati Quattroporte Revealed

Eight years seems like an inordinate amount of time between successive generations of cars in our modern world, but that’s how long the 5th generation Maserati Quattroporte has been with us. In 2013, however, a new Quattroporte will go on sale and Maserati have released the first images prior to the car’s 2013 Detroit Auto Show debut in January.

Most of the new Quattroporte’s details are under wraps for now, but the car is longer and more spacious than the model it replaces.

The styling of the new Quattroporte is an evolution of the current car’s lines. The grille, vents in the front fender and triangular C-pillar, have all been carried over from the old to new Quattroporte, but are now joined by a strong belt line. New head and tail-lights and frameless doors set it apart from the model it replaces.

Inside, the dashboard is a simple affair, with a prominent touch-screen infotainment system, molded three-spoke steering wheel, as well as plenty of leather, wood, high-gloss plastic and polished metal surfaces to create a suitably classy ambiance.

The 2013 Quattroporte is also expected to be lighter and more powerful than the current car, with a steel monocoque body structure and an all-new V8 engine. Details of the V8 are unknown, but with Ferrari being responsible for its production, we expect it’ll bring more power, fuel efficiency and excitement to the Quattroporte. In future, a turbocharged V6 engine is also likely to be available and also manufactured by Ferrari in Maranello.

The all-new Quattroporte will join the GranTurismo and GranCabrio sports cars on showroom floors early next year.
