Forget the new Porsche Cayman S that’s just launched at the LA Auto Show and all the hubbub surrounding its 911-rivalling credentials. Florida based tuners, Ultimate Auto, have finished a project on a first generation Porsche Cayman S, proving that you can breathe some new life into the old car yet.
Ultimate Auto has upgraded the Porsche Cayman S suspension by way of new Bilstein PSS9 coilover springs and shocks. This gives the car a lower ride height and improves the already exemplary handling of the mid-engined Porsche sports car.
In the name of lightness, Ultimate Auto chose to fit the Cayman S with a set of Lightweight OZ racing wheels, finished in matte graphite and wrapped in ultra-sticky Michelin Super Sport tyres.
The body kit comes courtesy of TechArt, which guarantees improved aerodynamics and even better head-turning capability with its remoulded front spoiler, bolder side skirts and more pronounced rear spoiler. The black mud flaps provide a nice contrast to the bright white exterior paint work.
No work has been done beneath the engine cover to extract more power out of the Cayman’s distinctive, flat-six engine, however, which is a little disappointing.
This car from Ultimate Auto has a wiff of the Fast and Furious about it, proving you don’t need to go putting your name on the order list of the new Porsche Cayman to get a great looking two-seater, that isn’t a 911.
