The last time we heard from AC Schnitzer they had just released a number of tuning options for the new BMW 3 Series. The performance, chassis and styling updates for the F30 were rather spicey, but not quite as hot as what they’ve managed with the new BMW M135i.
In standard form, the rear-wheel drive BMW M135i produces 235 kW and 450 Nm from its 3.0-litre turbocharged engine. Once AC Schnitzer have reworked the ECU, the M135i manages a 1 M Coupé-busting 265 kW. No further engine modifications have been revealed, but AC Schnitzer will release full details of their tuning package at the Essen Motor Show, which starts in the U.K. today.
‘Power is nothing without control’ according to Pirelli’s marketing slogan and AC Schnitzer obviously subscribe to this theory, as the majority of their tuning efforts are paired with chassis upgrades too. The M135i has been given a taughter and lower sports suspension, while a choice of wheel designs and sizes are also available that range from 18- to 20-inch. An aerodynamics package adds a two-piece front splitter to the already sporty M Sport body kit, along with a tailgate spoiler. A boot-lip protection film, design stripes (not shown), as well as chromed exhausts tailpipes complete the exterior styling changes.
AC have grouped their interior enhancements under the banner of ‘Black Line’, which includes a choice of gear shift knobs: aluminium; one with a digital gear display; or an illuminated leather item. Other Black Line trim includes aluminium for the cover of the i-Drive controller, handbrake handle, foot rest and pedal set, while the final touch is a set of velours floor mats.
