For many, more is never enough. This is clearly the tuning philosophy behind Swiss company, Sportec. At the beginning of the year, they took the far-from-under-powered Audi RS3 and developed an upgrade program for it. By March this year they had upgraded the 2.5-litre turbocharged 5-cylinder TFSI engine to produce 300 kW and 550 Nm of torque; an increase of 50 kW and 100 Nm compared to the stock RS3. This gave the Sportec RS3 acceleration to 100 km/h in 4.3 seconds and the top speed of 273 km/h.
In addition to the engine tuning, the package included: a sports exhaust system; an adjustable coilover suspension that lowered the ride height between 20 mm to 40 mm; 20-inch alloy wheels and a high-performance brake upgrade.
Now Sportec has revealed a revised Audi RS3, the Sportec RS470, which is even more powerful. ’470′ in the title helps delineate how much horsepower it is now creating. Sportec have increased the engine power to 350 kW and 625 Nm of torque, which is an overall increase of 100 kW and 125 Nm compared to the stock Audi RS3.
From standstill the Sportec RS470 will now launch to 100 km/h in less than 4.0 seconds; 3.8 seconds to be exact. 9.0 seconds later it will cross the 200 km/h barrier before the increased power tops the RS3 out at 302 km/h. That puts this Audi RS3 into modern day supercar performance territory.
Numerous modifications were necessary for this last push into the power stratosphere, so Sportec used a bigger intercooler, an in-house developed Sportec K24.500 turbo, new air intakes and a high performance exhaust system with sports catalysts.
Sportec also carried out a subtle makeover to the exterior of the RS3 by broadening the front wings and the rear side fenders. The RS470 rides on a set of coilover shocks and springs that are 25 mm lower than stock and the 20-inch wheels come shod with exceptionally large 345/30 profile Michelin tyres.
