Forget the renderings, forget the concepts, forget the speculation, forget the heavily-disguised test mule pictures; these here are the first fully undisguised spy shots of the upcoming BMW 4-Series.
The highly-anticipated two-door version of the 3-Series has been snapped during its maiden photo shoot. Best of all, the coupé version of the sixth-generation F30 BMW 3-Series sedan has been spotted wearing a 435i badge.
The car looks virtually identical to the recently revealed BMW 4-Series Coupé Concept from Detroit, but as you would imagine for a production car, there are slightly modified aspects to the ventilated front fenders, altered taillights, and less flamboyant bumper and wheel packages.
Prototypes for the so-called M4 have already been spotted around the world on their testing regime, and this will be a good baseline from whence to judge what BMW has in store for that storied car.
As regards the engine lineup, expect the same 328i and 335i designations from the sedan to filter across. This means a 180 kW and 350 Nm, 2.0-litre turbo in the 428i and a 224 kW and 400 Nm 3.0-litre turbo in the 435i model. Transmission choices should include a standard six-speed manual and optional eight-speed automatic.
This 4-Series Coupé, which carries the F32 code name, could be officially unveiled at September’s 2013 Frankfurt Auto Show.
